Our Mission & Vision

WATCA’s mission is to create awareness, foster community engagement and drive regulatory change to protect and expand Urban Forest in WA's cities and towns.

We call on the Western Australian State Government to:

Regulate the removal of large trees over 8 metres in height, on all urban land in Western Australia; and
Commit to achieving 30% tree canopy coverage across metropolitan Perth by 2040, undertaking the necessary planning, policy changes, funding and monitoring to achieve this.

WATCA seeks to work collaboratively with the State and Local Governments, the private sector and community to achieve these goals.

With temperatures climbing every year, we see a greener, shadier Perth. A city that recognises the value that trees bring to our way of life and to our kids’ futures.

Our vision is for Perth to be a city filled with quality green spaces that connect communities to the natural landscape, and provide endless benefits for our health and wellbeing, for our environment, and for our economy.
