Nedlands council have rescinded a permit allowing Perth developer to chop down a tree located on a Doonan Road verge, after Melvista Lodge resident Caroline Lacy stood against the chainsaws with her walking stick. Ms Lacy, a retirement village resident, sprung into action in her nightie early one morning when she heard the sound of a chainsaw. As she rushed outside, she witnessed contractors chopping off limbs from a mature tree on the council-owned verge. The removal had been approved by the council due to the impact on a future multi story aged care facility. What Ms Lacy did next has been hailed by many as heroic.
